Effie Jean, long time resident of Abbotsford, passed away at MSA Hospital on January 7, 2005, at the age of 93, after a brief illness. Effie was predeceased by her husband Albert in 1982 and her brothers Lloyd, Ray and Harry. She is survived by her sisters Eleanor of Creston and Edith of Winnipeg. Also surviving Effie is her son Allan (Bert) of Abbotsford; her grandchildren Greg (fiance Danielle), Suzanne (Warren) Bolton, Lisa (Brent) Davis, all of Halifax; and Kathy of Yellowknife; her great grandchildren Mark, Amanda and Emily Bolton and Matthew and Andrew Wind.
Effie was born in Rosser, Manitoba in 1911. Rosser is where she met and married Albert. They moved to Abbotsford in 1949 where they later bought, and she operated, Andee’s Style Shoppe until 1964 when they retired.
Effie enjoyed her grandchildren immensely and leaves many happy memories for them. She had resided at the Ebenezer Care Home for the past year and a half where she was truly happy and enjoyed the care and love of wonderful staff.
A memorial tea celebrating Effie’s life will be held at St. Ann’s Parish Centre, 33333 Mayfair Ave., Abbotsford, from 1-4 pm on Saturday, January 15, 2005.
