Effie Electa Ebbeson

February 1, 1920 - September 25, 2017

In the early morning of Sept. 25th, Effie Ebbeson (nee Roberts) passed away peacefully at White Rock Seniors Village. She was 97 years and 8 months old.

Her son Gordon was with her throughout that day and night. She had not been feeling well for three days. She had been in the Seniors Village for only a month. Gordon spent several hours each day making her transition from home as easy as possible.

Effie's health began to decline after her 95th birthday and significantly after a fall four months later at the end of May, 2015.  She was lovingly cared for at home for two years by her son Gordon, his wife Lynda, and his daughter Davina.

Effie was born in Abbotsford, B.C. on Feb. 1, 1920 the fifth child of Will and May Roberts, Abbotsford pioneers. As a child and teenager, she learned to love music and dance.

She married Aksel in 1941, and they moved to Langley in 1948.  Effie was always a lover and protector of Nature and a highly responsible wife and mother.  She spent a lot of time working with the Youth Choir of the Langley United Church and was an active member of the Langley Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than sixty years.

In her later years, she loved playing bridge.

Effie was predeceased by her three brothers and her sister and by her husband Aksel in Jan. 2010.

She is survived by her son Dennis (Darla), another son Gordon (Lynda), and her daughter Barbara. She also leaves six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend its thanks on Effie's behalf to Dr. G. S. Nataros for his care and support over the past many years.

A Memorial Service will be held for Effie on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the United Churches of Langley, 21562 Old Yale Rd., Langley, B.C.
