May 19, 1951 - November 6, 2019
After a long battle with cancer, Edward (Ed) Reimer passed away peacefully in the early hours of November 6, 2019, at the age of 68, with his family by his side. Ed is survived by his best friend and wife of almost 47 years, Lorrinda, his daughter Sondra (Brent), his son Daryl (Anica), and his beloved granddaughters Caleigh, Laura, Caris and Madelyn. Ed was born in Abbotsford, BC, where he lived his entire life. He raised his own family on the property next door to the farm on which he grew up on. Ed inherited a love for farming from his father, and for most of his life was an egg farmer. He retired from farming in 1995, but returned to the lifestyle when his son, Daryl, moved next door to him on the original farm and they started the adventure of raising cattle together. Even through his illness, if Ed had enough strength and energy, you could still find him working in the corral or on the tractor. If he wasn't at the farm, he could be found enjoying a meal with his family, or attending his grandchildren's events. He regularly attended basketball games, soccer games, piano recitals and school concerts. His encouraging presence will be dearly missed.
A viewing will be held on Monday, November 18th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 19th at 11:00 am at South Poplar Cemetery, 721 Gladwin Road, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm at South Abbotsford Church, 32424 Huntingdon Road. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the BC Cancer Society.
Ed was grateful to all the doctors and nurses who were so caring to him through his illness. Online condolences to the family may be made at: www.woodlawnfh-abbotsford.com.
