FAST, Edward Henry. June 29, 1938 – February 5, 2014. It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Ed Fast, but we are comforted and rejoice in knowing that he is now with his Lord and Saviour. Ed’s kindness, gentleness, sense of humour, friendly personality, and warm smile will be greatly missed by family and friends. Born in Hepburn, Saskatchewan, the family moved to Abbotsford in 1945 where he grew up and worked as a carpenter for most of his life. Ed earned a reputation as a hard-working man who could build or fix almost anything and was always willing to help others. He loved the outdoors and spent much time fishing, hiking, hunting, and boating, and working on the farm. Ed was a devoted Christian and a true example of walking with Christ. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Tina, daughters Carol (Jef) Baerg, Wanda (Mike) Braun, grandson Nolan Baerg, granddaughter Emily (Nathan) Unger, Jackson and Jesse Braun, siblings Ernie, John (Pat), Corey (Ruth), Hedy Johnson, Marlene (Henry) Loewen, Evelyn (Andy) McDougal, Katherine (Jim) Stobbe, sisters-in-law Margaret and Evelyn Neufeld, many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. Predeceased by his son Martin Edward, parents Abram and Elsie Fast, mother-in-law Justina Neufeld, brothers-in-law Lyle Patterson, Earl Johnson, John Neufeld, and sister-in-law Marilyn Fast. Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, February 13 at Level Ground Church, 31216 King Road, Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MCC (mcccanada.ca).
