Edward (Ed) Penner, of Abbotsford, BC, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the age of 95 years.
He passed away at Menno Home after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Ed was born in Manitoba, one of 13 siblings.
As a young boy, Ed enjoyed school, playing baseball, attending dances, yodelling and helping at home.
When Ed turned 18, he headed out to BC and became a surveyor. He met his wife Irmgard in Vancouver and several years later they married and had three children. By this time, Ed was an engineering technician who travelled to different job locations with his family joining him during vacations.
Ed eventually joined Flygt Canada and was responsible for sales of large water and sewer treatment plants to major cities.
Ed was very involved with his family and coached and played hockey in the Abbotsford Minor Hockey system as well as being an active volunteer parent with the Abbotsford Swim Club.
Ed and his family spent time camping throughout BC and other provinces, waterskiing in the Okanagan and downhill skiing in the winter.
Ed was predeceased by his wife Irmgard and is survived by his daughter, Gale Penner (McMahon); son Kenneth (Sharon) Penner; son Leonard (Lisa) Penner; grandchildren Trevor McMahon, Meghan McMahon; Sean Penner; great-grandson Thomas McMahon; and several brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial will be held later this year.
Friends and family may make donations in Ed's name to the Alzheimer's Society of BC.
