DOWNEY, Edna Lilian. It is with a mixture of both joy and sorrow that the family of Edna Lilian Downey (nee Hawken) announces her promotion from this life into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, August 4th. Edna was predeceased by her husband Murray (in October, 1992), brothers Ernest and Tom, sisters Dorothy (Arndt), Agnes Hawken, and Ena Hawken, half-sister Madge (Brotherton), and grandson Brendan Downey. She is survived by her children Deane (Margaret), Raymur (Viola), Neil (Angela), Lois (Ken Westerlund), Stanford (Patricia), Luci (Bruce Rushton), Glenni (Dean Tweedle); and half-brother Jack Hawken, plus 17 grandchildren and 27 greatgrandchildren.
A time of viewing and visitation will occur on Monday, August 15th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford. The Memorial Service for Edna will take place at Sevenoaks Alliance Church, 2575 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford, commencing at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16th. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Edna's memory can be made to the Murray and Edna Downey scholarship fund of Trinity Western University (c/o Development Department, 7600 Glover Road, Langley, BC V2Y 1Y1), to Global Ministries of The Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada (30 Carrier Dr., Suite 100, Toronto ON M9W 5T7), or to the Murray and Edna Downey scholarship fund at Ambrose University College and Seminary (150 Ambrose Circle SW, Calgary, AB T3H 0L5).
