Lewis, Dr. David John

Passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010 with family by his side at the Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission. He was 27 days short of his 80th birthday. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor on January 22, 2010.

David was born April 12, 1930 in Portsmouth, England. He immigrated to Canada in 1963 and worked as a doctor in Alberta for 13 years and continued to practice for 15 more years after moving to Abbotsford in 1976. He retired in 1991 and became a missionary to many around the world serving first as a doctor in Africa for 3-1/2 years before becoming a ship's doctor for Operation Mobilization traveling the world. David enjoyed teaching in his church or where ever he was given the opportunity. Many appreciated his insight, poetry, humor and intellect.

David was predeceased by his first wife, Pat in 1987. David will be fondly remembered by his wife, Sue; 4 children & spouses, Andrew & Eileen, Liz & Brant, Simon & Dianna, Tim & Connie;11 grandchildren, Corisa, Cassi & Jamie, Chelsey, Catrina, Carlee, Tyson, Caitlin, Megan, Jeremy and Celina; 2 brothers and families in England as well as many relatives around the world.

A celebration service of David's life will be held at Sevenoaks Alliance Church, 2575 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford on Saturday, March 27 at 11:30 a.m.
