HAMPSON, Douglas Arthur
Jul 13, 1955 - Sep 19, 2012
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Douglas Arthur Hampson.
He will be remembered and cherished by his loving wife of 30 years, Birgit; his children, Nathan (Maja), Stephanie and David; his siblings Bruce (Alge) and Sharon (Andy); and his parents, Barbara (Alec) and Bill, along with many other extended family including 17 in-laws and 26 nieces & nephews.
Doug was born in Vancouver, B.C. He spent most of his childhood years in Young, Saskatchewan. For the last 26 years of his life, he resided in Abbotsford.
A love for God, family and friends, characterized Doug's life. He expressed his compassion and love for learning through his work as a prison psychologist and a university professor (TWU). He loved to integrate the learning from his prison work with his teaching in the classroom.
Doug enjoyed a good cup of coffee, meaningful conversation, reading, walking the dog, working in the yard, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
We extend our thanks to the wonderful nurses and doctors in the palliative unit at the ARHCC for their care of Doug in his last days.
A Celebration of Life service will be held October 6, 2012, 2:00p.m., at MEI Elementary School.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the construction of a new chapel at Trinity Western University would be greatly appreciated. (www.TWU.ca/giving, specify "Other" as the donation type and "New Chapel" in the comments).
