SMITH, Dorothy Gertrude (nee Barker)

Abbotsford, BC

Jan. 21, 1921 – June 20, 2010

Born, in Mission, BC, the fourth of seven children, to Harry and Gertrude (Gould) Barker. On Sunday, June 20 “Mom” moved from her earthly residence at Bevan Lodge, Abbotsford, to be with the Lord and Saviour whom she loved and served throughout her life. Mom lived nearly her entire life in the areas of New Westminster, Coquitlam, Hope and Abbotsford. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Herman Smith, and former husband, Stan McIntosh. She is survived by five children: Linda (Ed) Wegner; Len (Cathy) McIntosh; Doug (Pam) McIntosh; Wayne (Elaine) McIntosh; Val (Irv) Janzen; eleven grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her sister, Mildred Hall, and friends too numerous to count. She will be remembered for her music, her gentle nature and her courage when faced with challenges.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 28 at 2:00 at Gladwin Pentecostal Church, Abbotsford.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Bevan Lodge for their loving care for Mom during her time there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
