June 6, 2025

Dorothy "Dot" Wiens Jansen passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, at Laurel Place Care Centre in Surrey, one month before her 99th birthday.

Dorothy was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and moved to Vancouver with her husband, Hal, where she lived for many years. She spent the last 30+ years of her life in Abbotsford, where she loved going to Ricky's, her favorite restaurant, for their Mount Baker dessert. She enjoyed every last bite of all that chocolate and ice cream. She is survived by two daughters, Gwen Smith (Surrey) and Brenda Leswick (California), three grandsons, Michael Smith/Kim (Surrey), Matthew Smith/Denise (Langley) and Jeremy Leswick (California) and six great grandchildren and Stephanie Allen (California), a very dear and special friend.

She is also survived by three loving stepsons, Reginald Jansen/Cindy (Victoria), Donald Jansen/Lucille (West Virginia), Timothy Jansen/Debbie (Victoria) as well as fourteen (step)grandchildren and twenty-seven (step)great grandchildren. Their love and support created a wonderful, blended family.

She was predeceased by two loving husbands, Hal Wiens and John (Jack) Jansen, as well as her son-in-law, Jerry Leswick. She is now with them, and other family and friends, in a wonderful place, no longer alone.

No words can express how grateful and blessed we have been for the wonderful constant care she received at Menno Place (Abbotsford) and Laurel Place (Surrey) over the last several years. Our sincere thank you to the staff who always provided her loving care.

The service was held this past Friday at Hazelwood Cemetery with Pastor Aaron Austin.

Dorothy was an avid contributor to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in support of her great granddaughter and the Cancer Society in support of her great grandson. In lieu of flowers, donations to either organization, would be greatly appreciated.
