Doris Vera, beloved wife, Âmother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2007. She leaves to mourn, with deep sorrow, her husband Peter; daughter Eileen (Doug) Yearwood Prince Rupert, BC; son Daryl Howard, Edmonton, Alberta; grandÂdaughters Emily Yearwood Lee (Jacob), Victoria, BC; Beth Yearwood Flynn (Andrew), Calgary, Alberta and Elanor (Aaron) Franks, Vancouver, BC; her sister Gladys (John) Thompson, Abbotsford, BC; nephews and nieces in Australia, USA and Canada. Predeceased by her mother Erma Carter (1983), her father Nathan Carter (1990), and her brother Alberta Dave Carter (1944).
Doris was born in New Westminster, BC March 25, 1927 and moved to Groundbirch, BC at age two with her pioneering parents. She grew up in the Dawson Creek area of the South Peace. She married Peter Howard in 1949 and they commemorated their 58th anniversary on September 3, 2007.
Doris will always be remembered for her love for her Lord, her family, and her many friends, for her ready smile and caring positive attitude and her cheerful hospitality (always others first). She was gifted in sewing, crocheting, knitting and baking. Her heart for children, and her ministry to them, was a delight to see.
Pastor Dave Rafeedie (Evangelical Free Church) will lead immediate family members in a graveside service. A memorial service will be arranged for a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the charity of your choice, or to the Cancer Research Foundation.
