Doreen Bernice KLASSEN (nee Handel)

Doreen passed from death unto life into the presence of the Lord on April 30, 2006. She was born March 9, 1908 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up in Headingly, Manitoba where her father was the warden of the prison. After moving back to Winnipeg she obtained a ­bachelor of education degree from the University of Manitoba. For many years she taught ­public elementary school. In 1943 she married John B. Klassen, from Gretna, Manitoba. They sub­sequently moved to Abbotsford, BC where Mr. Klassen purchased a raspberry/strawberry farm. Their son Ken was born October 19, 1945 and son Doug July 2, 1952. After retirement in 1968 the family moved to Kelowna. Doreen was predeceased by her husband John on August 22, 1975. She is survived by two sons: Ken from Kelowna and Doug from Burnaby; two grandchildren: James from Abbotsford and Dorrie Lynn from Sardis, BC.

A graveside service will be held at the Kelowna Memorial park Cemetery (end of Bernard Ave.) on Friday, May 2 at 12:30 pm followed by a memorial service in Evangel Tabernacle, 3261 Gordon Dr., Kelowna at 1:30 pm with a reception to follow. Flowers gratefully declined.
