Donald Russell JACKSON

Donald Russell Jackson passed away Sept. 3, 2005 at the Saint Josephs hospital in Bellingham, Washington, USA. Don was born in Alida, Saskatchewan, Canada on January 10, 1932. His parents were Russell and Elsie Jackson. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1950 as an air weapons controller and received his Commission in 1969. His tours of duty included postings in both the U.S. and Canada.

During his years in the service, he always held down additional part time jobs (band leader of the "Stardusters"; TV repair man; Amway salesman, etc.) to provide a good life for his 5 children and wife. After he retired from the Service, he worked in various states as a land agent, but always returned to his beloved hobby farm in Sumas, Washington.

He is survived by the love of his life, Lillian Royce nee Cooper. On November 1, 2005, they would have celebrated their 54th anniversary. He also leaves behind his 5 children [Clinton Russell (Sharon); Douglas Carl Winston (Linda); Barbara Louise (David); Patricia Anne (Daniel); and Karen Lynn] who live in various parts of the U.S. and Canada. He will miss his grandchildren Daniel Joseph II; Jennie Marie Liliana; Saralyn Anne; Courtney May, and Jordan Donald Leo Jackson-Smuntan. He also leaves behind his brothers George and Tommy, numerous nieces and nephews and in-laws. He will be missed by those who knew him and loved him. A simple farmer's son, he never forgot his roots.

Funeral service, with military honors, will be held Saturday, Sept. 10th at 10:00 a.m. at the Sumas Good News Centre, 121 Garfield Street, Sumas, WA 98295. Services will be officiated by Pastor Carl Bronkema. Light lunch and celebration of his life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Sumas American Legion Post #212, 134 Harrison Street, Sumas, WA 98295.
