Arruda, Deodato (Deo) Moniz

March 30, 1929 - November 10, 2009

After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Deo passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Maria Carmelia, and his 5 daughters, Margaret, Louise (Blake), Elizabeth, Sonya (Brad), Susan (Derek), 11 treasured grandchildren, Sara, Lauren, Michael, Jakob, Luke, Joshua, Alyssa, Amanda, Nicholas, Samantha, Kyle & a great granddaughter Avery. Deo was predeceased by his parents, Mariano & Gilda & his brother, Artur. Deo was known for his honesty, integrity, and love of family. He emigrated from Portugal in 1957 and sponsored four siblings to come to Canada. Deo arrived in Canada with only $100 in his pocket and with determination and hard work, he started several successful businesses. Deo fulfilled his dream of owning a hobby farm where he raised cattle, goats, exotic birds, and his cherished Rottweilers. The family would like to thank all who helped during his battle with cancer, his doctors, Dr. J. Chan, Dr. Oja, and Dr. Walia, and the Chemo and Baker 2 nurses at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. He was affectionately called "Our Prince" by his chemo nurses. Family and friends are invited to attend a service on Mon, Nov. 16th, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 33333 Mayfair Ave Abbotsford.
