BURFOOT, DENNIS JOHN

Nov. 29, 1928 - Dec. 6, 2008

Passed peacefully into the presence of Jesus following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. Loving husband of 56 years to Loreen, father to Kathie (Darrell) Krahn, Ron (Carol), and Rick (Arlene), grandfather to 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. Pre-deceased by his parents Ernest and Edith, survived by his sister Doreen Taylor and family from Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.

Born in Vanguard, Saskatchewan; raised in the Reaburn/Marquette area of Manitoba where he farmed until 1977 when the family moved to Mission, B.C.; carpenter/contractor until retirement, following which he volunteered at the MCC Mission Thrift Store.

Dennis will always be lovingly remembered as a peacemaker who lived out his faith as a person of integrity. He cared deeply for his family. He saw and felt at a deep level as evidenced in his love for poetry, in the many poems he wrote, and in his love and care for animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed life, fun, laughter and friendship.

A memorial service will be held at Cedar Valley Mennonite Church, Mission, B.C. at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson Society British Columbia, Suite 600, 890 Pender St., Vancouver, B.C. V6C 1J9 or www.parkinson.bc.ca
