September 6, 1959 - November 9, 2022
We are sad to announce that Lynn passed away on November 9, 2022, at Holmberg House in Abbotsford, BC, after succumbing to a rare cancer. Lynn, as she was known to all, was always grateful that as a result of cancer she was forewarned of her end of life journey. Lynn used this valuable time to see and thank her loved ones, sharing with them all she needed them to know before leaving this world.
Lynn was born in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, Scotland on September 6, 1959, and emigrated from England to Canada with her family in 1993, settling in Abbotsford, BC where she has lived ever since. She loved Abbotsford and its warm sense of community, and never wanted to live anywhere else. She leaves behind her eldest son A.J., daughter Harriet and son-in-law Steve, and her precious granddaughter Georgia who made Lynn a proud new Grandma when she was born in 2021. Lynn was pre-deceased by her youngest son Stuart who sadly passed away in June 2017.
Soon after getting married, Lynn graduated with an honours degree in Law & Economics from Bournemouth University in the UK, but she dedicated herself to raising her three children, before going on to pursue a highly successful career at a large international leadership development firm where Lynn became their head of consulting for Canada. This was a role Lynn loved as much as the people she worked with, and one in which she excelled. With her wonderful sense of humour and the ability to motivate, teach and bring out the very best in others, she will be sorely missed by all.
Lynn had many good friends in the Abbotsford area along with close relatives in the UK and USA, but she always held dear the life-long friendship of her closest friend Pauline whom she first met at school in Middlesex, England when in their early teens. Despite living in two different countries for the past 29 years, Lynn and Pauline remained inseparable.
With a warm and generous heart, and a trusted friend to many, Lynn will be deeply missed by all her family and those who know her well.
A very special thank you to the doctors and the Abbotsford palliative complex care unit, the home health care team, and the caring staff at Holmberg House Hospice for their incredible dedication and compassion during Lynn's final weeks. Words cannot express the family's gratitude and appreciation.
In loving memory of Lynn, please consider donating to the BC Cancer Foundation.
