David LUKIV

June 25, 2012

LUKIV David. After a long stay in hospital David passed way at Mission Memorial Hospital on June 25th, 2012. He was a strong person, very optimistic and fought his illness to the end until his strength and body could no longer endure. Throughout his life he met and touched many people's lives, family and friends as we all do. People liked and loved him; he was always happy, most of the time easy going. He seemed to have a smile and perhaps a joke or two to tell. The one thing he loved to do was cook and many that knew him shared this time with fine food and drink. David was predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth Lukiv (nee Kallai) on October 12th, 1996 and now with his passing they have been reunited in heaven. He is survived by his two sons Bryant and Lorne and daughter Sharon and their families. Together, David and Elizabeth are now watchful over the 6 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren they have left behind. He will be missed, remembered and loved by all. The family also wish at this time to thank all the staff at Mission Memorial Hospital, Ridge Meadow's Rehab, Abbotsford and Surrey Rehab for all the care given to David. A special thanks to Dr. Nemanishen, who looked after dad for a very long time, (he got his wings Dr. Nem). Also we thank the staff at Hillcrest Clinic for setting appointments and Dr. De Klerk, Dr. Wong and Dr. Jackson for being there when Dr. Nemanishen wasn't. At this time we would also like to give a special thank you to the staff and friends at The Cedars where David was loved and lovingly called home. Every time he was in hospital he could hardly wait to go back. Each one of you became like family. As David would say, "I'll catch you when I see you" and "I am doing the best I can". The family will always remember the loving care you have shown to our father, grandfather and great grandfather, David.
