FIDLER, David Edward
It is with extreme sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and friend on Monday, March 2, 2009. David was born on March 19, 1941 in Victoria, B.C. He grew up in Victoria and lived in Abbotsford for the past 40 years. Dave's 38 year career with Canada Safeway began in Victoria. He was promoted to store manager in White Rock before being transferred to Abbotsford. Dave was instrumental in opening four new Safeway stores in Clearbrook, Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Langley. As a store manager, he earned the respect of his colleagues and peers and formed many lasting friendships. Dave had a genuine lust for life-as an avid golfer and bowler, he enjoyed a circle of wonderful friends who created memories that Dave truly treasured.
Family was a very important part of Dave's life. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Deanna in June, 2008 and his mother, Edith in September 2000. He is survived by his father, John; his children, Lisa (Campbell) Selbie and Michael Fidler; his stepchildren, Brad Nickerson, Colin Nickerson, Kerry (Wayne) Mack, and Kent Nickerson; his grandchildren, Christopher, Sean, Geoffrey, Shelby, Tristan, Dallas, Allegra, Lindsey, Sarah, Brett and Carissa, Dave loved being with his grandchildren and he and Deanna always took the time to attend the many academic and sporting events. We love you and miss you Papa. Dad, you taught me to work hard and always respect others. Your quick wit and laughter have touched many people's lives and your spirit will be remembered always.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cascade Community Church, 35190 Delair Rd. in Abbotsford with Rev. Lynda Richardson officiating. A reception will follow the service at the Rancho on Delair Rd. For those desiring, donations made to the Canadian Lung Association in David's memory would be greatly appreciated.
