MARTIN; Dr. David John
Former Abbotsford physician, Dr. David John Martin, passed away on Saturday, January 30th. Dr. Martin performed locums in the area beginning in 1991 after he left his practice at Tsawwassen Medical Clinic where he was from 1968-1991. He was also Chief of Staff for Delta General Hospital for three years. He gave a year of his practice to do volunteer medical work in Ethiopia. Upon retirement, he continued as an avid gardener and hiker, as well as singing in the Central Heights Church choir and other service in the church. He was beloved by many patients and remembered by colleagues and staff both here and abroad, for the time he gave his patients, his disarming approach and his quiet wit and smile. He is survived by his wife Doreen, daughters Heather (Gary), Audrey, Erla (Dave) and son Hugh (Sandy), six grandchildren, brother, Ed, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 1:30 pm at Central Heights Church in Abbotsford. www.centralheights.ca for directions. Cards or flowers can also be received at the church.
