Cpt. Martin Lloyd Holt

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of an amazing husband, loving father, devoted son and dedicated brother. Martin is survived by his loving wife Dawn Marie; son Jason (Eve); grandchildren, sisters and brother, mother Annie Holt, and numerous nieces and nephews. A tugboat captain for 26-1/2 years, one of Martin’s proudest accomplishments was initiating Rescue 15, with former Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau, which was passed into legislation. Martin was active in all communities that he lived in, Rotary Club, Variety Club, a Mason, Lions Club, coached minor league baseball, president of Mission Minor Hockey, and Sons of Norway. He resided on Gabriola Island for the past ten years. An avid golfer, he was past president of the GG&CC. As an accomplished musician and gourmet cook he loved to entertain his friends and family with lavish dinners, then singing and playing his guitar for all to enjoy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and will remain “forever and a day” in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. A celebration of life will be held on Sat., June 25, 3:00 pm at the Ruskin Hall.
