Clifford Stanley Macarthur

May 17, 2007

March 10, 1917 - May 17, 2007

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Clifford “Mac” Stanley MacArthur on Thursday, May 17, 2007. Surrounded by his family and in the arms of his loving wife of 65 years, Mac made his final journey home.

Mac retired as Superintendent of the RCMP in 1974, having served in Whitemouth, Portage La Prarie, Bissett, Teulon, Flin Flon, Dauphin, Ottawa, Prince Rupert, Prince George, and finally in Chilliwack. We would like to celebrate his life as we remember Mac (“Poppa” to his children and grandchildren) as a family man, a prankster, an avid gardener, an expert carver of turkeys and roasts, photographer, a journalist, and a provider of warm laps and big hugs. He loved warm summer days at Lake Catherine, eating sweet treats, fishing trips and puttering around his expansive and beautiful backyard. He will be lovingly remembered as a warm and gentle soul who loved family and life. He will be greatly missed but will live on in our hearts.

Mac was predeceased by his daughter Bonnie in 1990 (Len), and is survived by his beautiful wife Lila, his son Cliff (Ethel), and his grandchildren Karen (Marvin), Rob (Firli), Alison (Paul), Jaimie (Daniel), Tracie (Rod), and Elizabeth, as well as his eight great-grandchildren: Morgan and Jordan, Waffa and Siffa, Andrew and Heather, Melodie and Tanya.

A celebration of his life was held for immediate family members at ‘Hallmark Assisted Living’ in Abbotsford, B.C. May 20. In lieu of flowers kindly donate to the charity of your choice.
