September 23, 1926 - October 31, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of "Mac" at the age of 94. Born September 23, 1926 in Vancouver, BC, he passed away peacefully after a brief illness in the early morning hours of October 31st.
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother will always be remembered lovingly by his wife Rosemary, married 71 years, his daughter Cheryl and son-in-law Barry and son Robert and daughter-in-law Carol. Remembering him are his grandchildren; Matthew, Wendy, Barry, Gregory and Carly and eleven great grandchildren. Mac is also survived by his brother Gordon and sister-in-law Doris.
Mac grew up and spent his young years in North Burnaby and at the age of 17 joined the Navy and during WWII served on the HMCS Haida. He was proud of being a veteran and was a long-time member of The Royal Canadian Legion branch 148 in North Burnaby. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge for over 60 years and was a dedicated Shriner.
Mac believed in hard work and honesty and spent many years in the steel business. Those who knew him well will remember his sense of humour and his ability to share a story. He had a quick wit with one liners and loved to have people laughing.
There will be a private Celebration of Life at a later date due to Covid 19 protocol. Please feel free to remember Mac in your own way or consider a donation in memory of Mac to the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
