CALDWELL Christine Jane (Vodden)

A loving wife, mother, nana and sister passed away peacefully early Tuesday, February 5, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the young age of 56. Born in Penarth, Wales, Christine came to Canada at the tender age of 4 months. She loved to travel but Abbotsford was always her home. She is lovingly remembered by Lyle, her husband of 37 years; daughters, Aynsley (Matthew) and Chelsea; granddaughter, Meika; sisters, Linda (Jeff), Patricia (Rick) and Kathryn; foster brother-in-law, Ted (Denise); and many nieces, nephews and their children. She was predeceased by her parents, Bruce and Molly Vodden (both in 2010); and prior to that by Lyle's parents, Ralph (1989) and Clarice (2002) Caldwell. Christine was very active in the community. During her career, she first worked at Eaton's before branching out as an entrepreneur and owning her shop, Dreamweavers. She was a member of the Valley Womens' Network and the Watercolour Society, President of the Arts Council, and a well respected Realtor for 21 years. She was elected to the City of Abbotsford Council and served from 2005 to 2008, and as the Director of the Real Estate Board from 2009 to 2011. A Celebration of Christine's Life will be held on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 1:00 pm at The Salvation Army Cascade Community Church, 35190 Delair Road, Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christine Caldwell Memorial Scholarship for the Arts Fund c/o Abbotsford Community Foundation, 204-2890 Garden Street, Abbotsford BC V2T 4W7. Donations may also be made online at: www.abbotsfordcs.org
