It is with love, sadness and wonderful memories that we announce the passing of Chris Postma, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Chris was taken to his heavenly home to be with our Lord and Saviour on August 29, 2018, after a long and painful battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Jennie of 61 years, his children Gaya (Dwayne), Audrey (Wayne), Jerry (Sharon) and Annette (Ralph) and his 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, his brothers and sister and many nieces and nephews.
Chris the oldest of 8 children was born in Terband Friesland and in 1952 the family immigrated to Canada. They made their home in Edmonton Alberta, where he met Jennie Bosscha. Chris and Jennie were married in Keremeos BC on August 3, 1957. They made their first home in Edmonton, Chris was a dreamer they moved many times making many friends along the way. They moved from Edmonton AB to Abbotsford BC to Prince George BC to Grande Prairie AB back to Edmonton, to Abbotsford, then to Whitehorse YT back to Abbotsford BC then to Crofton BC and finally back to Abbotsford in 2010.
Chris worked in construction most of his life, but he also was a draftsman. Chris could sit at his drafting table for hours drafting whatever came to mind.
Chris was generous and throughout his life he helped many people in different ways in his travels.
Chris was predeceased by his parents Jaring and Geeske and his sisters Grace and Betty, granddaughter Jocelyn and 5 nephews.
We thank the staff at palliative care MSA Hospital, Christine Morrison, Respite and Hospice and finally all the staff at Abbotsford Hospice Society Holmberg House where he spent his final days. Thank you all for the care and grace that you showed our father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.
A Memorial Service was held at Bethel Reformed Church on Saturday September 8, 2018.
