SMITH. Charlotte Emily-Hope Smith of Brandon, Manitoba, formerly of Mission, BC passed away on May 28, 2011, at Brandon Regional Health Centre, at the age of 80 years. Emily was born in Mission, BC October 16, 1930, and was raised and educated in the area, where she remained until moving to Brandon at the age of 73. She spent much of her early life exploring the beach at her parent’s summer cottage on Crescent Beach. She loved the ocean. Emily attended Mission Senior Secondary School in addition to a year of private school in Vancouver, BC. As a young adult Emily worked at CIBC prior to marrying Ray and becoming a homemaker for her family. Some of the organizations she belonged to included ACW, Mission Curling Club, Comet Club, Cancer Society, and she was also a member of the Mardi Club and Crib Club at Monterey Estates, in Brandon, Manitoba. She was very artistic and left her creative touch where ever she went. She sketched many a beautiful picture. She was a avid gardener and won many curling trophies over the years. She was an amazing cook and delighted many of us with her culinary skills. Emily was an inspiration to all as she battled cancer with perpetual optimism, courage and grace. She is survived by son Neale (Niki); daughter Cheri; son Dean (Pam). Grandchildren Troy, Heather, Chelsea, Scott, Zach, Jaimie, and Ben. One great-grandchild Claire. Predeceased by husband Lawrence Ray Smith. Parents Marguerite Jean Stafford and William Alexander Stafford.
