NICOL, CHARLES

Jan 23, 1921 - Jan 20, 2010

It is with great sadness that the family of Charles ( Chuck ) Nicol announce his passing. Chuck passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 20, 2010 just a few days short of his 89th birthday. Chuck was born on January 23, 1921 in Quill Lake Saskatchewan. Chuck fought in World War II and returned home to Canada after he had been wounded in France. Chuck was an active member of The Royal Canadian Legion, holding an Honorary Lifetime membership and gave countless volunteer hours to Abbotsford Branch #15. Chuck also sat on the board of directors for Lynn Haven Society. Chuck was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Abbotsford, and worked as an industrial insulator belonging to The International Association of the Heat and Frost Insulators Local #118.

Chuck is survived by his beloved wife Gladys ( nee Reid) whom he described as "the love of his life", his daughters Jean(Randall) Sparkes, Robyn (Brad) Creasy, sons Reid(Melissa)Nicol, Ross Nicol. Chuck will also be lovingly remembered by his 12 grandchildren, Breanne, Cameron, Brandon, Grayson, Caden, Elizabeth, Kayti, Christopher, Gabriel, Randi, Rebecca, and Obed. Chuck is also survived by sisters Jean & Gordie Bates and Edith Harrison; sister-in-law Jean(Derek) Dickson; and many nieces and nephews. Chuck's family was the most important thing in his life and he often reminded us how proud he was of all of us and how much he loved us. Chuck loved music, dancing, playing cards and the occasional dram of Scotch. He will be greatly missed by all of us. We would like to thank the Menno Home in Abbotsford for their wonderful care of our dad while he was with them. Please join us to celebrate Chuck's life at the Masonic Hall in Abbotsford, January 30 2010 at 1:00pm.
