NAIRNE, Charles "Pat"

Born in Vancouver on March 17th, 1921. Passed away June 8th, 2009. It is with great sadness that the family of Charles "Pat" Nairne announces his passing on June 8th 2009 at the age of 88. He passed away peacefully at the Mission Hospice with his wife Wilma and daughter Diana at his side. He will be greatly missed by Wilma, his wife of 62 years, his daughters Diana and Anne and son Bob. As well by son-in- laws Roger (Diana), Russ (Anne), daughter- in- law Val (Bob) and his eight grandchildren and five great- grandchildren. Pat volunteered for the Army in 1941, proudly serving his country in WWII. He was stationed in Europe from March 1942 through November 1945. Recently he represented the BC Regiment as an invited guest of the Holland government to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the liberation of their country. He went on to be a long-time employee of BC Hydro, retiring from the Gas Division in 1985. After retiring, Pat enjoyed extensive world travel with his wife Wilma, and also loved spending his time as a tireless volunteer at both his church and condo complex. He was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. His calm and compassionate approach to life was inspirational and served as a strong influence on all those who spent time with him. He will be missed every day. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at the Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission for their incredible care and support for both Pat and his family. A memorial service will be held at the Evangelical Free Church in Abbotsford on June 13th at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
