December 11, 1952 – April 18, 2020
The family of Charlie McGarrity wishes to announce that he has been released into the arms of our Lord on Saturday, April 18th at his home in Vernon, B.C.
Charlie was born in Montreal on Dec. 11, 1952 to Charles “Pops” McGarrity and Maureen Gearey. He was the third born of eight children. Charlie eventually relocated to B.C. where he lived in Abbotsford and Langley for many years before moving to Vernon in 2006.
Charlie will be remembered by his wife Karen McGarrity, his stepchildren Jeromy Strobiki (Nicole), Sarah Barthelemy (Darwin), Ashley Nelson (Geoff) and Joshua Green; his grandchildren Matias, Hunter, Georgia, Cashton, Sebastian, Nicholas and Harper, siblings Lillian Joyce (Tommy), Dale McGarrity, Eddie McGarrity, Sandra McGarrity and Maureen Laurie (Larry) in addition to many other extended family members and many friends. Charlie is predeceased by his parents, his siblings Ricky and Marlene and brother-in-law Patrick Scully.
Throughout his life Charlie worked in the field of Social Services and poured his heart into the lives of many people. Charlie and his wife Karen also spent many hours exploring the quiet lakes and mountains of B.C. Charlie was an avid racquetball player for over 30 years, and his friends in the racquetball community were an important part of his life. Charlie loved the Lord and it was his faith that sustained him through the hills and valleys of his life. He will be held forever in the hearts of all who loved him.
It is his life, and not his loss, that we will celebrate.
