Cathy passed away peacefully on December 30, 2005 at Menno Hospital. She was born August 23, 1930 in Kleefeld, Manitoba, to Cornelius and Maria Friesen, she was the youngest of seven children.
She is predeceased by her parents, two sisters – Mary Langeman and Lena Friesen, and two brothers-in-law – Henry Wiens and Neil Langeman. She will be missed by her loving family: sisters Olga Wiens; sister Nettie (Henry) Wall; brother Abe (Mary) Friesen; sister Annie (Frank) Suderman; 14 nieces and nephews and many friends and relatives.
Cathy grew up in Landmark, Manitoba until the family moved to BC in 1944. She finished high school in Yarrow and later took nurses training in St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. She was a compassionate person and loved taking care of her patients throughout her career.
Cathy loved to travel and to spend time with her friends at her cabin in Point Roberts. She developed a progressive muscular disorder which eventually put her in a wheelchair. She loved to cross-stitch and spent a lot of time at her hobby as she became more housebound with her physical condition. She made up her mind to accept circumstances as they came her way and trusted God for his strength. She had a calm and grateful spirit about her. We will miss you Cathy.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 6, 2006 at Bakerview MB Church, 11:00 am.
