LAURIDSEN Catherine Anne (née Lindsay) Nov. 24, 1939 ~ Jan. 26, 2013. It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Lauridsen. She was predeceased by husband Bjørn (2008), sister Lilas Haraguchi (1998), parents Tom (1991) and Annalice (1967) Lindsay. She is survived by her children Kristi (Elvio Bertoncello), Gitte (Todd Nessman) and Karyn (Josh Brown); grandchildren Anna, Matteo, Cali, Nate and Rylie; siblings Lorne (Audrey) Lindsay, Pam (Casey) Sheridan and Graeme (Sharon) Lindsay; brother-in-law Tad Haraguchi; niece Sarah, and nephews Matt, Geoff, Darrell, Tom, Mike (Erika) and Curt. Anne will be remembered fondly by many other relatives, including her Danish family, and many valued friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was devoted to her daughters and their partners and was an adoring and much-beloved "Grannie." Anne was born and raised in Abbotsford and was in the second graduating class of Abby Senior in 1957. She excelled in sports at high school and at UBC, where she played varsity basketball and met life-long friends. Anne was a life-long fan of athletics, cheering for Abby teams, Canucks, Lions and her favourite tennis players. She loved travelling, and while living in Denmark following her marriage to Bjørn in 1966, she developed deep attachments to Danish people and culture. Anne's influence during her long career as an elementary teacher, including many years in the Abbotsford district, was widely felt. She was a proud member of the Fraser Valley University Women's Club and an integral part of life at Shoreline Estates, her home for the past 15 years. Always a teacher, Anne demonstrated qualities of faith, strength, belief in others, understanding, generosity, warmth and loyalty. During her prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer, she was courageous, determined and definitely a fighter. Gratitude is extended to Dr. Paul Klimo and Dr. Sasha Smiljanich and the staff of Lions Gate Chemotherapy Clinic for providing the treatments that gave Anne many months to enjoy with her family and friends. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and other staff at Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission, where Anne and her family received tremendously compassionate care. A memorial service to celebrate and honour Anne's life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, February 8 at Trinity Memorial United Church, 33737 George Ferguson Way (at Montrose Street), Abbotsford, with Rev. Bill Booth and Arlene Kropp officiating. In lieu of flowers, Anne requested donations to Canuck Place Children's Hospice (Abbotsford) or the Christine Morrison Hospice.
