Catherine Joy DUPERON

Catherine Joy

October 12, 1931 to February 10, 2008

It is with great sadness that we had to let our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister and Sister in law go to be with the Lord on February 10th, 2008 after a brief illness.

Joy was born to Ken and Elizabeth Klinzing on October 12th 1931 in Trail B.C. She was the 2nd of 5 children, her older brother Ardel passed away at birth. She grew up in Rossland B.C. with her three sisters Arvena, Flora and Ardys.

She moved from Rossland to Mission B.C. in the Summer of 1953 after marrying the love of her life, Wally Duperon Sr. on February 10th 1953. On the day of her passing they celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary.

In 1954 together they started their business, Mission Auto Wrecking Ltd. which still operates as their Family business. That same year Joy gave birth to the first of 2 sons, Wally Jr. In June of 1955 she had her second son, Kenny. Then on April 16th of 1983 she was blessed with her first grandchild, a grandson named Jordie. Her second grandson Nikolas was born April 10th 1985. On December 1st 1991 she was then blessed with her first granddaughter Chelsea and also with Ashley who was born on October 18th 1993.

Joy’s grandchildren were the lights of her life and she was devoted to their wellbeing and happiness. She was instrumental in their upbringing and was always ready and willing to spend as much time with them as they wanted. She was always ready with a salmon sandwich and a glass of chocolate milk at a moment’s notice, her Love, Kindness and Generosity were boundless.

Joy was much loved by her many family and friends and was an inspiration to all who came to know her. She was always there for anyone who needed her and expected nothing in return. She loved shopping, country music, traveling and collecting dolls and Elvis memorabilia. She was an absolutely avid Elvis fan, although she willingly gave up an opportunity to visit Graceland to go with her husband to visit a Tow Truck Factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. A. Johnson and Dr. Jeffries along with the wonderful, caring nurses at both MSA and Mission Hospitals for their kindness and support. A special thank you to nurse Louisa Terris for assuring that the family was in attendance at the time of Joy’s passing. The family would also like to thank all who came to help her and them through this time of need.

A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, February 15th 2008 at Mission’s St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, on 7th Ave. at 7:45 p.m. with viewing to follow. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 16th 2008 at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Joseph’s with interment to follow at Hatzic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations can be made in Joy’s memory to the Christine Morrison Hospice at 7324 Hurd St., Mission B.C. Condolences and tributes can be made to the family at
