WIEBE, Burton

Burton Wiebe was born in Manitoba on June 21, 1933 and passed away at the St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver BC on September 10, 2010. His parents were his mother Martha who passed away when Burton was two and a half years old and Aaron R. Wiebe. Burton was second of 7 siblings in the Wiebe family. Burton was a bachelor and had an exciting career that took him all over the world. He spent a brief time in the Royal Canadian Navy and had a life long interest in ships and shipping. He spent many years on the coastal tug boats and ocean freighters plying the seas world. He also worked on the notable Kemano Tunnel project in Kitimat BC, and in equipment and vehicle maintenance in Liberia, Africa and the family business, Brookside Farms Ltd. on Mt. Lehman Road. Burton faced many personal challenges in life, but underneath was a kind and loving person. The family is grateful to the MCC, The Outreach Society and the Rodden Lodge in Vancouver who provided care for Burton the last 20 years.
