HOWARTH Bridie Ella. August 7, 1930 ~ May 12, 2012. It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Bridie Howarth announce her passing at 81 years. Mom was born in Dunrea, Manitoba, the oldest of 10 children with whom she enjoyed farm life. Feeding livestock, gardening, housekeeping, childcare and making meals kept her and her sisters busy and would serve her well as she became a wife and mother herself after meeting and marrying Dad in August 1949. Six girls and one boy would come along to complete the family. Mom loved baking, canning, sewing and dancing in her younger years and bowling, watching the Canucks and Blue Jays games, bookkeeping, travelling and family gatherings in her later years. She was a founding member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Abbotsford, holding every position but one including becoming Provincial Madam President. Being part of the FOE brought her much joy as she helped give to the community, attended meetings and conferences and made many friends locally and within many others chapters. Pre-deceased by her husband, Norman, three siblings and grandson, Bryce, she is survived by her children, Sharon (Doug) Enns, Doug (Elaine) Howarth, Brenda Ritchie, Debra (Calvin) Vanderveen, Kathleen (Ray) Van Staalduinen, Janice Howarth (Ken), Denise (Len) Smit, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 6 siblings, and many friends. We will all miss her beautiful smile, her joy of life and the next adventure, her charming, sweet disposition and her encouragement, but most of all, her love. As her kids we have all lost our greatest cheerleader. We love you Mom and are glad your suffering is over. Thank you so much to all the nurses, care aids doctors and staff who cared for mom and made her time at Abbotsford Regional Hospital as comfortable as possible. She appreciated you all so much and so do we. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 23, 1:00 PM at Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road with a luncheon to follow at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall, 33868 Essendene Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Society would be appreciated.
