Birgit Horst

March 24, 1945 - July 29, 2017

Birgit was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. She will be missed by her loving husband Karl of 52 years, their three daughters & sons-in-law, Jeanette & Ron, Yvonne & Sven and Virginia & Ray; grandchildren, Zachary, Dominic, Clayton, Madi & Lexi; sister, Elfi. Birgit grew up in humble circumstances, in postwar Germany. In 1965, she married Karl and they immigrated to Canada in the summer of 1967. They raised their family in the Lower Mainland, and eventually settled in Langley. Birgit took great pride in homemaking, and showed her love by showering her family with quilts and other handmade gifts, with hospitality, and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing solos, and sang in various choirs. Birgit was a strong woman of faith who fought courageously through multiple medical treatments and operations. Her family faithfully supported her, but after 4 ½ months in hospital, she passed away peacefully to Heaven. The family wishes to thank friends and family for the many visits and prayers. She was truly loved and will be dearly missed. Birgit was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister.
