‘Bill’ Alfred William Browne Andrews Esq, 88, passed away Thursday June 9, 2016 in Abbotsford, BC. Born and raised in Jamaica, Bill met the love of his life Janet Browning and married quickly after becoming engaged just two days upon meeting - A true love story. Bill is survived by his loving wife Janet of 52 years, daughter Stacey (Mary), son Michael (Karen), son Kevin (Inge), and grandchildren Max, Ben, and Kaitlyn. Bill moved his family from Jamaica to Canada in 1973 with high hopes of offering his family a better, safer life. Bill had a long career at Belmont Meats as a sales manager and retired as Vice President of Sales. Bill lived in Ontario from 1973-1993 and then moved to Abbotsford, BC in 1993-2016. He then became highly involved in a variety of volunteer roles with The American Red Cross, Kiwanis Club, and ESSA (disaster services). Bill traveled North America volunteering and played an integral role in disaster services such as in the New York Twin Towers (9-11), the Kentucky flood, and the Okanagan fires. Bill was honored for his contributions through the “Order of Abbotsford” award given in 2012. After suffering his first stroke in 2013, Bill began living at Menno Hospital for extra care and support. He was always determined and motivated to put his best foot forward; which showed in the progress he made. Bill built a number of positive relationships with staff and co-residents. He engaged and socialized well with everyone; always providing entertainment of some sort. Bill had an enormous heart and shared his stories, knowledge, and love with all who he came into contact with. Family would like to express their gratitude to Menno staff for the care and compassion they provided. Bill was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Bill had the gift of the gab and charmed all who crossed his path. He was a friend and father figure to many, and cherished all relationships formed. He leaves behind a great legacy which will always be remembered. Service will be held Saturday June 25, 2016 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at Menno Hospital Chapel at 32945 Marshall Rd., Abbotsford, BC. Intimate service will be at 11:00 courtesy of Pastor David. Parking is also available at the Peace Lutheran Church at the corner of Ware St. and Marshall Rd. In lieu of flowers, family is requesting any donations be forwarded to the ‘Stroke Foundation’ or ‘The Alzheimer’s Association’ in Bill's name.
