Barney William (Buck)
Passed away peacefully on June 20 after a long struggle with MS. Barney is survived by his loving and devoted wife Marlene who acted as caregiver for many years; his children Dean (Shannon Sewell) Barrett, Lane and Nikki Barrett, Tim and Sara Barrett; grandchildren Jackson and Piper; son Lance Barrett; brother Joel (Marion) Barrett of Vancouver; sister Elizabeth (Tom) Taylor of Calgary; and large extended Âfamily of cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. Barney was born in 1932 and raised in Didsbury, AB and moved to Enderby, BC with his young Âfamily in 1966. The family settled in Abbotsford in 1970. Barney's accomplishments were many, in spite of his disease, he founded BC Silo and Tank in 1968 and ran it through 1990. His sons took over the business, which was his dream, and now run it as BARR Plastics Inc.
Barney had a great love of people and his greatest joy was dealing with his many clients in BC's dairy farming community. Being able to achieve these things is a testament to his strength and determination.
In lieu of flowers donations to the MS Society of BC are being accepted in his name. MS Society Fraser Valley Chapter, PO Box 373, Abbotsford, BC V2T 6Z6. The Celebration of Barney's life will be held at the Ramada Inn, 36065 N. Parallel Rd., at Hwy. 1 and Whatcom Rd., Abbotsford, June 30 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm in the Mt. Baker Room.
