Audrey Constance ELLIS

December 19, 2006

Audrey Constance (nee Harris). Born in White Rock on December 7, 1926, at fifteen she left school to work for Saba Bros. in Vancouver as a commercial artist. She married Bob, the love of her life on August 23, 1947. They moved to Mission to raise their family. Audrey loved playing bridge and created a large and loving network of friends. Largely self-taught, her artistic gifts found expression in her painting, and she was a founding member of the Mission Artists Association. She and Bob travelled widely and shared an interesting and comfortable life. Audrey believed in giving more than receiving, and her quiet generosity and enthusiastic interest in others touched more lives than any will ever know. In June 2005 she was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) which she and Bob faced together, with the courage and graciousness that she showed all her life. She died at home on Tuesday, December 19 with Bob and her children at her side.

Audrey is survived by her husband Robert (Bob), children, Pat, Michael and Charlene, Adam and Pam, three grandchildren, Liam, Laken and Ashlin, her sister and brothers, Helen Larsen, Michael Harris, Ronn Harris and Bill Harris and their families. No service or flowers. Instead, contributions to the ALS Society of B.C. in Audrey’s honour would be appreciated.
