DELANEY, Arthur Sydney

Arthur (Art) from Abbotsford, B.C., born in Comox, B.C. July 13, 1933, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009 peacefully at Abbotsford Regional Hospital after a brave battle from cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Louise, sons; Michael Delaney, step-son; Jayson Shank (Tina) and 4 grandchildren Kyle & Coby, Bradlee & Jayna Shank. Art came from a family of 8 children, he will be remembered specially by his brother Robert (Bob) who he played cribbage with every week faithfully and many friends & family. Art served proudly in the Army (Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry) for many years. After leaving the forces, he worked for Security at Woodlands until it closed, security in Maple Ridge and Scott Paper Mill in Mission. Art enjoyed cooking, playing crib, sports, flowers, & gardening. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Br. #15) & Fraternal Order of Eagles (Aerie 2726) & Reac (Retired Eagles Activity Club-Aerie 2726) where he & Louise helped out cooking for special events and fund raising suppers. The family would like to thank the Fraser Valley Palliative care team that showed so much compassion, support & understanding for Art's care. Special thanks to Dr. D. Henderson for his sensitivity & compassion & care for Art over the years. It was Arthur's wishes to have no service at this time. There will be a private service at a later date to lay his ashes.
