WOODS Arlene Gail (Butler). September 4, 1939 - February 4, 2012. It is with much love and sadness we announce the passing of Arlene Woods on February 4, 2012. Arlene will be greatly missed by her husband of 52 years, Grenville, her children Laurie, Kimberly (Kim), Doug (Cathy), and Steven (Lorena), granddaughters Karli, Charisse, Tierney and Lauren, her brothers Thomas (Millie) and William, as well as extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her parents Alice (Woodward) and Elmer Butler.
Arlene grew up in Saskatchewan where she met the love of her life Grenville. They were married in 1959, living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Tisdale, Saskatchewan then moving the family to Abbotsford, BC in 1969. Arlene loved the outdoors and enjoyed lively discussions on current topics. She was inspirational to her children and grandchildren through her wisdom and passion for continual learning. Though her lifelong battle with rheumatoid arthritis provided many challenges, she instilled strength and perseverance to pursue dreams and to never give up.
The family appreciate the support and compassionate care from all the medical personnel encountered over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arthritis Society of BC and Yukon division. A Celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
