December 21, 1937 - April 2, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother Anne Sawatzky. Anne was predeceased by her parents David and Agnes Epp, her brother Vic, and her husband Jake. She is survived by her children Robert (Tracy), Teresa (Tom), Mark (Thaleia), Christina (Allan), as well as grandchildren Lucas (Morgan), Justin, Tyler (Emily), Mitchell, Madeline, Ava, Carter, Evan, Macy & brothers Henry & George Epp.

Anne was born in Nieder Chortitza, Ukraine. After fleeing the war, she immigrated with her family to Canada in 1948 with the help of the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), first to Morris, Manitoba and then to BC, where she met and married Jake, the love of her life, in 1959.

Anne lived for more than 60 years in South Vancouver where she and Jake raised their four children. She spent the past two years at Sunrise Senior Living receiving exceptional care.

Volunteering for MCC at the Thrift Store & Ten Thousand Villages was a meaningful priority to Anne, as was her church, Sherbrooke Mennonite Church. Her Christian faith was a central part of her life. We rejoice that she is now free from dementia/Alzheimer's, which she suffered from for many years, and celebrate her arrival into the presence of Jesus.

The memorial service will be held at Peace Mennonite Church, 11571 Daniels Rd in Richmond, BC on Wednesday, April 10th at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the MCC, #201-33933 Gladys Avenue, Abbotsford, B.C., (https://donate.mcccanada.ca), would be greatly appreciated.
