Andrew Brandt

April 3, 1919 - February 13, 2020
Andrew Heidebrecht Brandt passed into the arms of his loving Saviour, Jesus Christ, on February 13, 2020 in Abbotsford, BC; 50 days short of his 101st birthday. He was born in Rosenort, Manitoba on April 3, 1919 to Pete F. and Anna Heidebrecht Brandt; the seventh of eleven children.
In May of 1942 he married Annie Viola Heide. They raised their family of four children: Calvin and Martha, Dorothy and Hank Blaak, Gerald and Marie and Daryle and Annette.
Andy worked as a carpenter and so the family moved to the Lower Mainland of BC in 1958 to escape the severe winters of Manitoba. After retiring he spent many years volunteering for the Fraser Valley Gleaners. He 'retired' from there in November of 2019.
He was predeceased by his parents, eight of his siblings and his wife Annie in December of 1990. He is survived by two brothers and one sister-in-law in Manitoba, his four children and their spouses, as well as ten grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his second wife Lena and her family.
The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 on February 29, 2020 at the Calvin Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Fraser Valley Gleaners would be appreciated.
