1913 – 2006
Andrew, beloved husband of Kathleen Sammon of Abbotsford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at the age of 92 years. Andy was born in Vancouver in 1913, the first of two children, to Joseph Peter and Violet Sammon. He was educated in Vancouver and had a long career in sales throughout British Columbia. He retired in Vancouver and later moved to Abbotsford where he made many new friends in his later retirement years. Andy was an avid musician, and entertained many as a drummer, starting in dance bands, and then in smaller groups, throughout most of his life. He was a member of the Vancouver Musicians Association for 65 years, and was most recently a Director of the Musician’s Benevolent Society. Andy dearly loved his family and took particular interest in the lives and adventures of his grandÂchildren. Besides his loving wife of 59 years, Kathleen, Andy is remembered by his son Peter Sammon and daughter-in-law Christine, and their daughter Maggie, of Calgary; his daughter Wendy Erickson and son-in-law David, and their four sons, Jonathan, Michael and Tim of Aldergrove, and Scott, and his wife Nicole, of Abbotsford; and many nieces and nephews. Andy was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Treasurer, and brother-in-law, Roy Treasurer.
Andy requested that no funeral service be held. If friends and family so desire, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon, 1212 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC, V6H 3V2, 604-736-4404, or
