Howie passed away at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital on March 31, 2018 after a short battle with cancer.

Howie was born in Aberdeen, Sask May 9, 1928 to Susan and John Dueck. There were 7 children in the family. He moved to BC in 1949 and started working for Canada Post in Abbotsford. From the post office Dad worked at Canada Customs at Huntington and later the Aldergrove crossing. Howie was also a Captain serving in the Canadian Forces with the Royal Westminster Regiment.

Howie retired at age 58 and spent his retirement roaming the globe as well as his other hobbies, playing pool, doing crossword puzzles, and fishing. He traveled to Thailand, Ireland, Cuba, the UK, Hawaii, Mexico, Alaska, Belize, Guatemala, and Fiji.

Howie and Ursula were married in 2005 and enjoyed meeting friends at the Eagles and traveling.

Howie is predeceased by his son Jim Dueck, his first wife Ada Mae (Susan) Thomas, and his second wife Jessie Des Mazes and survived by his wife Ursula, daughters Bonnie Sibley (Dave), Michelle Rickaby (Darren), grandchildren, Jen Sibley, Jeremy Sibley (Andrea), Melissa Bukta (Sheldon Batista), Megan Bukta (Ian Underell), Curtis Rickaby, and Spencer Rickaby.

During the past 7 years Howie has enjoyed his time with three great grandchildren Sebastien Sibley, Brooklyn Batista, and Dylan Batista.

The family would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Kuhn for his care and compassion in Howie's final days.

The Celebration of Life will be at the Abbotsford Eagles Hall, 33868 Essendene Ave, April 22nd at 1 pm.
