Alita Neufeldt

June 17, 1938-June 3, 2010

Alita went home to be with the Lord on June 3, 2010. She was born Alita Mary Reimer on June 17, 1938 in Main Centre, Saskatchewan to John and Katie Reimer. In 1940 the Reimer family moved to Yarrow, B.C., where she attended school and was involved in her church. She accepted the Lord as her savior at 12 years of age. Although plagued by a chronic lung disease from childhood, she enjoyed roller skating with her friends and singing in the church choir when she was able to get away from babysitting her younger brothers. Her talent and love of singing won her the lead role as Mabel in "The Pirates of Penzance" in high school.

In her late teens she worked at Funk's supermarket in Yarrow where she caught the eye of Rollie Neufeldt. Although Alita's parents were at first hesitant, she stood her ground and they were soon allowed to date. They were married September 14, 1957.

Never using her lung disease as a crutch, Alita enjoyed being a hostess to many family and friends while living on the edge of Hatzic Lake. She always had a smile and a large pitcher of lemonade for whomever came to visit. Two lung surgeries in 1964 and 1983 slowed her down physically but never dampened her warm smile and positive attitude. She was not expected to survive past 1990, but surprised all doctors with her strong spirit and desire to become a grandmother. From 1988 until her death, her loving nature was a blessing to each of her grandchildren.

She is survived by Rollie, her husband of 53 years, daughter Wendie and husband Ken Nickel and their children Trent & Sierra, her daughter Dianna and husband Simon Lewis and their children Catrina & Cassi & Jamie Falk, her 4 brothers, 1 sister, their families and many other extended family members.

Alita passed away peacefully to be with her Lord at Abbotsford Regional Hospital surrounded by family. She will be lovingly remembered as a tender and giving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. A celebration of her life will be held at South Abbotsford M.B. Church, 32424 Huntingdon Rd., Abbotsford, on Wednesday, June 9th at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to M.E.I. School would be welcomed. Condolences may be made at:
