Alice Maud James
October 11, 1920 - July 16, 2010
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mum, granny, G.G. & sister. Alice was predeceased by four sisters. She was also predeceased by husband, John, in 1954 & son-in-law, Leslie, in 1999. She is survived by sister, Ruby Chater, daughter April, son Doug (Doris), daughter, Laurel, five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Alice will be remembered for her strength, perseverance and quick wit. Alice proudly served the Canadian Armed Forces during WWII as a cook and carried the love of cooking for the rest of her life.
The family would like to thank Dr. Chan, the staff at ARH and a very special thanks to the loving, caring staff family at Sherwood Crescent Manor. You were all so amazing!
There will be a Memorial Service on Friday July 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford. All welcome. Alice will eternally be reunited with her beloved husband John in Ladysmith sometime in August. Online condolences may be made at
