EWERT; Alfons Jacob


Alfons Jakob Ewert entered into eternal life February 18, 2016. He was born in Hodgeville, Saskatchewan on November 17, 1928 to parents Maria Bonesky and Gustav Ewert. Al married his best friend Mary Doell in the Mennonite Brethren Church in Herbert Saskatchewan, on August 19, 1953. He graduated with his Bachelor of Education Degree at the University of Alberta and was a school teacher in the Edmonton school district for 12 years. He then moved to Abbotsford with his wife and two young daughters, Joyce and Gloria. He taught in the Abbotsford and Mission school district for many years. After retirement Alfons moved to Hong Kong with his wife Mary to teach in the International Christian School for 2 years. Alfons served his community volunteering wherever he felt God's hand leading him. He is survived by his wife Mary Ewert, daughter Gloria (Giuliano) Cavacece, grandchildren Juno (Blayne) Schiebel, Jessica (Bryan) Schuurman, Matthew Cavacece and Giuliano Cavacece. He also took the time to teach and build relationships with his great grandchildren, Brayden, Kayla, Emma, Bella, and Levi Schuurman as well as Evan, Aliya and Amara Schiebel. Join us Thursday, February 25th at 11:00 am for his Celebration of Life, at Seven Oaks Alliance Church, 2575 Gladwin Rd, Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Gideon's for Bibles would be appreciated, a cause that was very close to Al's heart. (www.gideons.org).
