PAIALUNGA; Alfie

Quietly, at his Barriere home and in the arms of his family, Alfie Paialunga slipped from this world early on the evening of August 26, 2014, after a long and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Born August 31, 1946, the son of Adolfo and Elsie Paialunga, Alfie was predeceased by his parents, brother Ken Paialunga, sister Lena Horton and nephew Ken Paialunga. He is survived by sister Mary McMath of Kelowna and many nieces and nephews, as well as his wife of 32 years, Garnette, of Barriere, daughter Farron Paialunga, of Surrey, BC, son Toni (Mel), stepson Tyler (Dannielle) Sealey and granddaughter Tameeka, all of Abbotsford, BC, and pined for by his special companion, grand-dog Bud. A long-time contractor and carpenter, until forced into retirement by declining health, Alfie was a devoted son, brother, uncle, husband and father who gave freely of his time and abilities in a variety of volunteer roles, including time spent coaching with Abbotsford Minor Ball. Since returning to Barriere in 2012, Alfie devoted much of his time to renovating and landscaping the home he shared with Garnette and Bud. A memorial service will be held on September 13, 2014 at Highland Church in Abbotsford, BC at 3:30 pm. Cremation entrusted to Scheonings' Funeral Services in Kamloops, BC.
