1938-2020 ~ Albert Witteveen was born in IJsselmuiden, the Netherlands, in 1938. When he was 13 years old, he immigrated to Canada with his mother, three brothers, and two sisters. They eventually settled in the Fraser Valley, where they purchased a dairy farm on Sumas Prairie.
Albert lived on the farm until his passing. On October 7th, 1965, he married Rosa Meints, and they had three children. Exactly four years after Rosa passed away, Albert went to be with the Lord, on December 16th, 2020.
Throughout his life, Albert was an active and faithful member of the Canadian Reformed Church, where he served as elder and as deacon. He touched the lives of many people, and was a great blessing to those who knew him.
He loved to travel, and in the last years of his life had the opportunity to travel to Brazil and Alaska and to see the Grand Canyon for the first time.
He was a voracious reader, loved bowling and gardening, and he was still going out to do chores in the barn until just a few months ago.
He is survived by his sister Mary Bosscher of Sumas, Washington, and Hetty (Julius), Jim (Nallely) and Carol, thirteen grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
While he was in the hospital, he chose the following verse to be read at his funeral: "He will cover you with his feathers; you will take refuge under his wings. His faithfulness will be a protective shield" (Psalm 91:4).
While we mourn the loss of our brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, we rejoice in knowing that he is now in the presence of his faithful Saviour! Due to current restrictions the family will be holding a private service.
