Albert WATKISS

December 1, 2006

June 10 1920 – Dec. 1 2006

Passed away peacefully at Campbell River Hospital aged 86. Lovingly remembered by Renee, his wife of 65 years, sons Christopher (Jill) and David, daughters Margaret (Madhavan) and Tracy (Glen), his 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

We will remember his energy and determination, his quirky sense of humour and his lifelong passion for classical and choral music. He was a member of McKay United Church choir in Ottawa, the Richard Eaton Singers in Edmonton, and the Vancouver Bach Choir.  All his life he was a constant supporter of local theatre and music.

Born and raised in England, he was a prisoner of war during WW2, worked in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur for a few years and moved to Canada in 1955 to work as an accountant at the CBC in Ottawa. He moved to the Northern Canada Power Commission in Edmonton before retiring in 1977 to White Rock and then Vancouver. In his later years he enjoyed working on the family goat farm in Abbotsford before he finally retired to Sayward, BC, in 2005.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Campbell River Hospital for their compassionate care of Albert during the last four months of his life.

Arrangements entrusted to Island Funeral Services, Campbell River 250-287-3366.
