On November 28, 2021 our dear father, Albert Sevenhuysen, passed away peacefully in Abbotsford, B.C., at the age of 89.
Albert was born in Ijmuiden in the Netherlands in 1932 and set out on his own to immigrate to Canada in 1953 and settled in Abbotsford. There he met Wilma Kleine and they married in 1956.
He will be remembered for his complete devotion to his family, strong faith, enthusiasm for the outdoors including, drives, camping and fishing, dedication to foster parenting, and hospitality to all that came to his door.
He built his home in 1961 and took great care of it, he loved to tinker and fixed many household items and issues, and also repaired clocks for many people. He had a great love of music, his favourite being organ concerts and classical symphony performances.
He is predeceased four years ago by Wilma after a marriage of 61 years, his brother Harry, his sister Stein, and grandson Derrick. He is survived by his brother Job, his sisters Rie and Ida, and seven children, Sylvia Sevenhuysen, Rick (Arlene) Sevenhuysen, Jocelyn (Case) Timmermans, Shirley (Frank) Ratzlaff, Wendy (Jerry) Beintema, Angela (Ted) Zak, and Belle (Ed) Tielmann, two foster daughters Lara and Joanna, 29 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and a large loving extended family.
Burial and memorial were held December 6, 2021, with pastor Adam Van Dop officiating.
